Funeral set for Abel Bolanos
The visitation and funeral for ISU student Abel Bolanos will be held in Rolling Meadows, Ill., on April 9.
Runners, eaters to make strides together during ISU fundraiser
The ISU Triathlon Club is holding its sixth annual Donut Run April 15 at 9 a.m. at Brookside Park, in Ames. The event is a fund-raiser to help defray costs so the club can compete in the Collegiate National Championship Triathlon in Alabama.
First study reporting chimps using caves authored by ISU anthropologist
ISU Assistant Professor of Anthropology Jill Pruetz authored a paper titled "Evidence of Cave Use by Savanna Chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes verus) at Fongoli, Senegal: Implications for Behavioral Thermoregulation," which is the first study to document regular chimpanzee cave use.
Forget 'the talk' -- ISU researcher recommends regular dialogue with kids about sex
ISU Associate Professor of Human Development and Family Studies Ronald Werner-Wilson studied teens, their parents and sex for his book and two related papers published in professional journals. He advises parents to have an ongoing dialogue with their children about sexuality -- a long process that should begin much earlier than the teen years.
Preliminary autopsy results revealed; probe continues
Investigation continues regarding the death of Abel Bolanos, an ISU student whose body was found Tuesday afternoon. Preliminary results from the autopsy indicated that Bolanos died as a result of accidental drowning. Final determination of the cause and manner of death is pending the results of medical tests.

Body of missing student found on campus
The body of missing Iowa State University sophomore Abel Bolanos, 19, was found on campus the afternoon of April 3. The student's death remains under investigation.
Iowa State celebrates undergraduate research projects at symposium
Undergraduate students will showcase research projects from 8 a.m. to noon, April 11, in the Pioneer Room, Memorial Union. The event is free and open to the public.

Kirschenmann on "The Splendid Table"
Leopold Center Distinguished Fellow Fred Kirschenmann is scheduled to be a guest on the nationally syndicated radio show, The Splendid Table hosted by Lynne Rossetto Kasper. Kirschenmann will discuss spring planting rituals and spring holidays as they relate to food and eating. The show, produced for American Public Media, will air on WOI-AM at from 2 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 7 and 11 a.m. to noon on Sunday, April 8. This will be Kirschenmann's second interview on the show.

Russell Pate, associate vice president for health sciences and professor in exercise science at the University of South Carolina and author of the 2006 book "Physical Activity Intervention for Youth," is the visiting Pease Family Scholar at Iowa State. He will present a free public lecture on Thursday, April 19.
College of Veterinary Medicine earns full accreditation status
Iowa State's College of Veterinary Medicine has been granted full accreditation status by the Council On Education of the American Veterinary Medical Association. The accreditation covers the complete academic program including the addition of a new professional program in veterinary medical education being offered with the University of Nebraska - Lincoln (UNL).
Students create furniture from tree felled by 2005 campus tornado
Some Iowa State University furniture design students and their professor have created furniture from a historic tree downed by a tornado that hit campus in 2005. The sculptural furniture is being used in the new Christian Petersen Art Museum.
