William Foege, an epidemiologist who helped eradicate smallpox, will give a talk on campus Oct. 17. His talk is part of the Norman Borlaug lecture series.
Scholars converge to bridge art and science
Scholars around the world will converge on Iowa State Oct. 13-15 to talk about collaborations between art and science. Keynote speaker Arthur I. Miller of University College, London, will kick off the symposium with a talk about Picasso, Einstein and the increasingly abstract art and science that followed their breakthroughs.There is no charge to attend the symposium, but advance registration is encouraged.
Another award for Stephens Auditorium
ISU's C.Y. Stephens Auditorium has received an inaugural 25-year award from the Iowa chapter of the American Institute of Architects. The new award recognizes an Iowa building (25 to 40 years old) that has outstanding and timeless architectural design. Last year, the Iowa chapter named Stephens Auditorium "Building of the Century." The Iowa chapter also recognized the Steve and Debbie Bergstrom Training Facility with a merit award.

'Murderball'star to campus Oct. 18
Mark Zupan, one of the stars of "Murderball" will speak on campus Oct. 18. The movie "Murderball" is about members of the U.S. Paralympic rugby team that won a bronze medal in the 2004 Paralympic games in Athens, Greece.
Farm House Museum, built in the mid-1800s, was the first building on campus. Today, it offers visitors a view to 19th century living.
