A new book by ISU education professor Jackie Blount questions subtle discriminatory practices by school districts against educators whose sexuality and gender cross conventional boundaries.

Virtual reality tours Jan. 21

Lego robot tourney Jan. 22
What inspires a 10-year old to want to be an engineer when she grows up? It could be the fun she had designing and building a LEGO robot for a FIRST LEGO League tournament. Iowa State's College of Engineering will host the state's tournament between 50 teams, Jan. 22.

Second mad cow case stirs unease over USDA decision

Another confirmed case of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE, or mad cow disease) has ag experts questioning the USDA decision to reopen the U.S. border to Canadian beef in March. ISU Associate Professor John Lawrence, director of the Iowa Beef Center, says the timing violates the "golden rule" of international trade.
