Service for Robert Stupka Dec. 3
The funeral service for an ISU student killed in a pedestrian accident earlier this week will be held in St. Paul, Minn., Saturday, Dec. 3. The service for Robert John Stupka, 21, will begin at 10 a.m. at the Nativity of Our Lord Church, 1900 Stanford Ave. The family has suggested that donations go to Nativity of Our Lord Church, St. Paul, or to the Iowa State biochemistry, biophysics and molecular biology department. Stupka died from injuries sustained when he was struck by a vehicle on campus Nov. 29.
New risk assessment course among the first
Iowa State is among the first in the nation to offer a course in risk assessment for the biological sciences. The course teaches students how to interpret the risk of adverse incidents in such situations as transgenic contamination, the occurrence of salmonella in food and other agricultural or biological situations.
2006 Veishea theme is 'Celebrate Iowa State'
Students leading Veishea 2006 plans have announced that "Celebrate Iowa State" is the theme for next year's event, set for April 21-23. "Our goal is to include everyone across Iowa in the celebration, and get them excited about what Iowa State has to offer," said Veishea General Co-Chair Jessica Lecy.
ISU Greek community welcomes local residents for holiday walk
Fraternity and sorority houses on Iowa State University's campus are opening their doors to the public for the first Greek Holiday Walk Sunday, Dec. 4, from noon to 2 p.m.

Payne is new Extension leader
Jack M. Payne, vice president for University Extension at Utah State University, Logan, has been named vice provost for Extension and outreach at Iowa State. He will begin his duties Jan. 15.
Geoffroy announces Veishea '06 alcohol policy
President Gregory Geoffroy has announced that next year's Veishea celebration will follow the university's standard alcohol policy. That policy permits alcohol on campus, including residence hall rooms, for students who are of legal drinking age.
