ISU prof provides online predator identification tips in Sex Offender Law Report
Chad Harms, an assistant professor in ISU's Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication, has written a two-part series on the grooming of child victims by sexual online predators for the publication, "Sex Offender Law Report," a newsletter published by the Civic Research Institute. He's also created a system in which online communication can be coded to detect an online predator.
Police seek suspects in armed robbery
ISU police are seeking help in identifying suspects in an armed robbery that occurred about 10 p.m. July 11 near Wallace Hall along Welch Road.

Flower show celebrates Iowa State
In a nod to Iowa State's 150th birthday festivities, Ames Garden Club's annual flower show at Reiman Gardens July 15 will be all about "Celebrating ISU." Gardeners and designers will show their skills in ISU-related contests that involve creating a table setting for the MacKay Hall Tea Room and displays with themes that evoke Veishea, Lake LaVerne, child development and even atomic discovery. ISU veterinarians expand service to Iowa dairy producers
Dairy producers in Iowa will benefit from the appointment of Dr. Patrick Gorden as senior dairy clinician in the Food Supply Veterinary Services at the ISU College of Veterinary Medicine. Gorden will provide care and services to Iowa dairies beginning this month.
ISU prepares to launch new Ph.D. program in business and technology
ISU's College of Business is moving forward with plans to implement a new Ph.D. program in business and technology. College officials hope to have their first class of students for the new program by Fall 2009.
Iowa State awards $1 million for research promoting Iowa economic development
State economic development grants will support 10 Iowa State research projects that could lead to startup companies or develop technology for existing businesses. The projects include developing human and livestock vaccines, researching techniques to boost ethanol production, commercializing 3-D software tools that improve surgical procedures, studying the combustion of alternative fuels and examining new uses for the co-products of ethanol production.

See Iowa State's first astronaut Clayton Anderson at the International Space Station. Anderson earned his master's degree in aerospace engineering at Iowa State in 1983.
