    The Campanile and Stanton Memorial Carillon is prominent on the Iowa State University campus and in the memories of those who have called the institution their home. The university will honor the enduring 125-year tradition in a free public event Sunday, Sept. 15.

  • Pausing biological clock could give boost to lab-produced blood stem cells

    An Iowa State University research team has discovered when and why inflammatory signaling affects the formation of blood stem cells in embryos, which will benefit efforts to develop lab-grown, patient-derived stem cell transfusions to treat blood disorders. The promising advancement in regenerative medicine could eliminate the need for bone marrow transplants.

  • Student innovation powers new Cyclone clothing collection

    Iowa State fans looking for a unique way to show off their Cyclone pride will have new options this fall, courtesy of student designers and the inaugural "Cyclones Take New York" design competition. The three winning designs will be on store shelves in September and the top two designers are going to New York Fashion Week. 

  • Quad Cities Manufacturing Institute launched to serve defense, manufacturing sectors

    Iowa State University, the University of Illinois System and Western Illinois University are launching the Quad Cities Manufacturing Institute. The institute will work with local industries, including the U.S. Army's Rock Island Arsenal, to study and innovate in advanced manufacturing, additive manufacturing and materials engineering. The institute will also work with local partners and schools to develop a skilled workforce.

    A research team led by Iowa State's Qi An has developed artificial intelligence technology that could find ways to improve researchers’ understanding of the chemical reactions involved in ammonia production and other complex chemical reactions.
