Pollard
Pollard named next athletics director
Jamie Pollard, deputy athletic director at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has been named athletics director at Iowa State, effective Oct. 1. Pollard, 40, joined the athletic department at Wisconsin in May 1998 and has been deputy athletic director since 2003.

Geoffroy on FBI advisory board
ISU President Gregory Geoffroy has been named to the FBI's newly created National Security Higher Education Advisory Board. The board is made up of 16 university presidents and chancellors. "I'm pleased to serve on this new advisory board and to help improve communications and understanding between higher education and the FBI," Geoffroy said. "I applaud Director [Robert] Mueller for reaching out to Iowa State and other universities."
Zaffarano Hall to be dedicated Sept. 21
Dedication ceremonies for Zaffarano Hall, formerly known as the Physics addition, will be Wednesday, Sept. 21. The hall is named for the late Daniel Zaffarano, who was a physics and astronomy professor and Graduate College dean at Iowa State.
ISU learning communities rank among nation's best
One of Iowa State's innovative academic programs has been recognized as one of the country's best. The learning communities program is listed among the top 25 nationally in a recent U.S. News & World Report ranking.
