ISU Pappajohn Center, Kauffman Foundation fund 26 campus entrepreneurship grants
The ISU Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship recently awarded 26 Iowa State faculty and staff grants for programs designed to advance entrepreneurship on campus.
New director named for Veterinary Teaching Hospital
Dr. Sally Brown Prickett has been named director of the Dr. W. Eugene and Linda Lloyd Veterinary Teaching Hospital at Iowa State. Prickett, who started Feb. 1, manages the clinical services, biosecurity and business operations of the hospital, which has a staff of more than 110 and treats approximately 18,500 cases annually.
ISU's College of Design can move forward on building addition, says Board of Regents
The Board of Regents has approved the preliminary design for an addition to Iowa State University's College of Design building.
'Home Ground' creative writing symposium is Feb. 18-20
The third annual free public Symposium on Wildness will be held at ISU Sunday-Tuesday, Feb. 18-20. Sponsored by the Creative Writing Program, it will feature workshops, panel discussions, concerts and readings centering around "Home Ground: Language for an American Landscape."
Top-ranked fans
Cyclone fans continue to keep Iowa State women's basketball among the elite in home game attendance. The Hilton crowd currently sits seventh in national rankings, with an average attendance of more than 8,500 fans per game, according to statistics compiled by the University of Wisconsin. Cyclones have ranked among the top 10 in this category for the past eight years.
Statistician's work highlighted on "Law and Order"
A Feb. 6 episode of the NBC crime drama "Law & Order: Special Victim's Unit" will focus on a controversial EPA rule allowing intentional dosing of humans in pesticide experiments. ISU statistician Alicia Carriquiry, part of a scientific committee that probed the practice, is listed in the program credits.
College of Business to host Big 12 North MBA Team Case Competition
Iowa State's College of Business hosts a preliminary round of the inaugural Big 12 MBA Case Competition on Friday-Saturday, Feb. 16-17.

The Iowa State University Army ROTC program won Army-wide honors as the top overall college cadet command for the western half of the United States.
Dubuque Museum of Art to exhibit ISU professor's ceramics Feb. 27-May 27
An exhibition of 18 of Ingrid Lilligren's abstract ceramic sculptures will be on display at the Dubuque Museum of Art Feb. 27-May 27. Lilligren is associate professor of art and design. The show, "Ingrid Lilligren, A Certain Consistency. Works 1996-2006," derives its title from Ralph Waldo Emerson's essay, "Self Reliance."

Shashi Nambisan named director of Iowa State's transportation center
Shashi Nambisan, who directed the transportation center at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas for eight years, will be the new director of Iowa State University's Center for Transportation Research and Education.
Fund raising increases
Halfway through the fiscal year that started July 1, 2006, the Iowa State University Foundation reports significant increases in fund raising compared to figures recorded the same time last year.
Acker named endowed chair
David Acker has been named the first Raymond and Mary Baker Chair in Global Agriculture at Iowa State. Wendy Wintersteen, dean of the College of Agriculture, said Acker has played a leadership role in expanding the college's global programs and partnerships.
