Tackling the plastic waste problem has become one of the biggest environmental challenges. But when Aaron Sadow started studying the problem, it wasn't as widely talked about. The chemistry professor at Iowa State is also the director of iCOUP, the Institute for Cooperative Upcycling of Plastics. To upcycle plastic, the goal is to make products that actually have a higher value than the original using chemical processes. Sadow says the institute has already had some major scientific findings, and he's excited to see what other discoveries he and his team will make to help reduce the plastic waste problem.
