Tahira Hira, a professor of personal finance and consumer economics in Iowa State's Department of Human Development and Family Studies, recently worked with NYSE (New York Stock Exchange) Euronext developers on the launch of Money Sense, a new online resource for workplace consumers to improve their money-management skills. Hira vetted the site content and is chairing the NYSE Euronext Financial Literacy Advisory committee. Previously a member of President Bush's Advisory Council on Financial Literacy, Hira discusses her new role with NYSE, what recent credit card legislation will mean to consumers, and her golden rule on debt management.
