Ever since he was a kid going on hunting trips with his family, Adam Janke has had a fascination with birds. It's why he wanted to study wildlife in college from the moment he knew that there was a major for wildlife. That love of the outdoors has taken him to "every corner of the corn belt," Janke says, where he's studied birds and educated people about land stewardship. The outdoors are not just the place where he does his work, though. For Janke, the outdoors are where he derives much of his recreation, joy, and relationships with family and friends. It's also where he does his best thinking, helping him grow professionally while also pushing him to accept his true identity.
