Matt McGarry thought he was set. After high school and a couple years of community college, McGarry was planning on running the family farm. But when he couldn't afford to buy it, he set off working on dairy farms around the country. That led to other careers and other opportunities, but he was always fascinated with dairy farming. After his daughter graduated from Iowa State, McGarry decided that he wanted to give school another shot. As an ag studies major, McGarry says he thrived despite being initially nervous about the academics. Now he plans on going to grad school, and is hoping to soon open his own dairy farm.
