Simon Estes has had an acclaimed and extraordinary career as an international opera star. The son of a coal miner and the grandson of a slave, the Iowa native has traveled the world performing for presidents, kings and queens. But for Estes, his philanthropic work has been just as important a part of his life as music. He's given hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships to students in need, and built a music school in South Africa.
