AMES, Iowa – Due to the severe weather forecasted for this afternoon and evening, Iowa State University will partially shut down at noon on Wednesday, Dec. 15. Final exams scheduled from noon to 9 p.m. will be held in the same locations on Friday, Dec. 17 – please see schedule below for exam times. Students should work with their instructors about potential accommodations if they have significant conflicts, such as air travel scheduled for Friday.
Employees – especially those who commute from outside Ames – are urged to leave at noon and coordinate with their supervisors to work from home, take leave or make up time within the work week. Employees in food service, police, public safety, security, power plant, animal care, critical maintenance need to make arrangements to safely report to campus. If you cannot make it to campus, please contact your supervisor. All campus activities scheduled for this afternoon and evening (after 12 p.m.) are cancelled or will be rescheduled for a later date.
All units should review building emergency maps should they need to shelter in place. Maps are posted throughout buildings or available on the Facilities Planning and Management’s website. Departments need to plan in advance for emergency operations in support of critical research projects with anticipated power outages and transportation interruptions that could last beyond this evening’s storms.

Iowa State’s Online Testing Center is working with instructors to extend their exam window through 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 17. For students scheduled to take their exams at the center, it will open at 8 a.m. both Thursday, Dec. 16 and Friday, Dec. 17.
