Canine Rehabilitation Center at Iowa State gets dogs back on their paws fast
Jul 6, 2017
The ISU Canine Rehabilitation Center is a state-of-the-art facility designed to help dogs recover from orthopedic or neurologic injuries. The facility features underwater treadmills, an overhead hoist system and a swimming pool that allows dogs to work in a low impact setting. Neuromuscular electrical stimulation helps strengthen the muscles and help dogs heal after injury or surgery. Veterinarians also perform physical therapy on the animals to improve range of motion. All of this can lead to a faster recovery. The rehab center can even be utilized as an exercise and conditioning program for older or overweight pets.
