ISU TO SPONSOR YOUNG WOMEN IN BUSINESS CONFERENCE OCT. 8AMES, Iowa -- A conference for young women interested in pursuing a degree in business will be sponsored by the Iowa State University College of Business on Friday, Oct. 8.
The third annual conference, titled "Opportunities!," will feature interactive presentations by businesswomen, information booths and a campus tour. It will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Sun Room of the Memorial Union. Registration is $16, which includes instructional materials, lunch and refreshments.
The conference is designed to provide young women with information about careers in accounting, entrepreneurship, finance, management, management information systems, marketing and transportation and logistics. Among the businesswomen who will speak at the event are: Mary Jo Banwart, owner of Cookies, Etc.; Lynn Petersen, Maytag marketing and sales analyst; Pam Schuchhardt, IT Technical Analyst for Cargill; Traci Roggentien, sales representative with Pillsbury; Kris Bailey, Kansas City Chiefs marketing sales executive; and Melinda Web Sponsler, an accounting and human resource analyst for Principal Financial Group.
ISU women students majoring in business will attend some of the sessions.
