REIMAN GARDENS DIRECTOR FOR PR AND DEVELOPMENT NAMED
AMES, Iowa -- Teresa McLaughlin, executive director of the United Way of Southwestern Indiana, has been appointed director of public relations and development for Iowa State University's Reiman Gardens. McLaughlin will begin the new position on Monday, Sept. 20.
As director of public relations and development, McLaughlin will be responsible for developing and managing public relations and fund-raising programs for the garden; coordinating Reiman Gardens' CoHorts docent program; managing membership development; and managing revenues. McLaughlin will report to the vice president for external affairs and work closely with the director of Reiman Gardens.
McLaughlin has been executive director of the United Way of Southwestern Indiana, Evansville, since 1998. Prior to this, she served as director of the United Way of Johnson County, Iowa City, from 1993-1998, and director of development for Hancher Auditorium and the University of Iowa Museum of Art, Iowa City, from 1989-1993.
She earned a B.S. in journalism and mass communication and environmental studies from Iowa State in 1980, and a M.B.A. from the University of Iowa in 1991.
Reiman Gardens is a 14-acre public educational horticultural garden. Reiman Gardens currently includes a learning center, children's garden, herb garden, rose garden, campanile garden, wetland garden and fragrance garden. A town and country garden and a conservatory complex, which will include an auditorium, tearoom and greenhouses, are under development.
