Tom Vilsack will be the keynote speaker at "Integrating Technology in Business," an Iowa Small Business and Entrepreneurship Symposium on Wednesday, Nov. 3. The symposium will be at the Marriott DMACC Conference Center, Newton. It is organized by Iowa State University and is open to the public. The session works to foster networking and sharing of information between Iowa scholars, business people, government agencies and other support organizations, according to symposium organizers, Howard VanAuken, professor of finance with Iowa States College of Business, and LuAnn Gaskill, associate professor and chair of the textiles and clothing department of the College of Family and Consumer Sciences, At the symposium, participants will learn about topics such as building business networks, women business ownership, rural entrepreneurship and demographic trends in Iowa. Attendees will also learn tips on the use of E-commerce, technology as a competitive strategy, and the role Iowas community colleges play in economic development.
