ISU FOOD SCIENCE AND HUMAN NUTRITION OPEN HOUSE NOV. 18

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State University’s department of food science and human nutrition will hold an open house Thursday, Nov. 18, in conjunction with the Iowa Institute of Food Technologies meeting being held on campus.

The open house will begin at 2:30 p.m. in the lobby of the ISU Food Sciences Building. The open house will focus on the growth of the department of food science and human nutrition, which is part of the College of Family and Consumer Sciences and the College of Agriculture.

Tours of the Center for Crops Utilization Research, the Center for Designing Foods to Improve Nutrition, the ISU Irradiation Facility and the ISU Meat Lab will begin at 3 p.m. Displays showing the various teaching, research and outreach activities of the department will be on view beginning at 4:45 p.m.

There will be a brief program at 5:30 p.m. in Room 2432 of the Food Sciences Building. Program speakers include ISU President Martin Jischke, ISU Provost Rollin Richmond and Steve E. Hill, an ISU graduate who works in the research division of Kraft General Foods, Inc. Richmond and Hill will speak on building academic and industry relationships.
