ISU FALL ENROLLMENT COULD BE UP BY MORE THAN 300 STUDENTS

AMES, Iowa -- Based on first day of school estimates, Iowa State University's fall 1999 enrollment could be up by more than 300 students.

The estimate for first day enrollment is 25,200 students. First day enrollment usually grows considerably during the first two weeks of school as more on- and off-campus students register, university officials said. Based on preliminary projections, university officials put Iowa State's fall enrollment at approximately 25,900. Last fall's final enrollment was 25,585.

The increase is being attributed to a larger undergraduate enrollment and more off-campus students. This fall's freshmen class is expected to exceed 4,000.
