DAVID B. SMITH ACCEPTS CHAIR OF ISU'S DEPARTMENTS OF ACCOUNTING, FINANCE

AMES, Iowa -- David B. Smith, professor of accounting at the University of Dayton, Ohio, has been appointed chair of the departments of accounting and finance at Iowa State University's College of Business.

Smith was also named to the Union Pacific/Charles B. Handy Professorship of Accounting in the College of Business.

He has served as a professor at Claremont McKenna College, Claremont, Calif., in addition to the University of Dayton. He worked as an associate professor at Arizona State University, Tempe, and was an assistant professor at the University of Kansas, Lawrence.

A Certified Public Account (CPA) by the state of Illinois, Smith has also worked as a staff accountant for Ernst and Ernst and was an academic fellow for Arthur Anderson & Co.

Smith has written articles for accounting, finance and related industry publications and serves as a manuscript reviewer for five different business journals.

He received a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois, Urbana- Champaign; an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania (The Wharton School), Philadelphia; and a BA from Carleton College, Northfield, Minn.
