FCS COLLEGE CONSULTING WITH INDIA ON HOME ECONOMICS CURRICULUM

AMES, Iowa -- Carol Meeks, dean of the College of Family and Consumer Sciences at Iowa State University, recently arrived in India to work with higher education administrators to stream line and redefine home economics education there.

Meeks said the visit focuses on refining admission forms, discussing a possible name change from home economics to something more contemporary, and a review of graduate education.

The effort represents the rapidly changing world picture of the role of home economics and the career opportunities now comprising that academic training, she said.
