ISU SEEKS INTERIM DIRECTOR OF SLOSS WOMEN'S CENTER

AMES, Iowa -- Iowa State University is seeking an interim director for its Margaret Sloss Women's Center.

Celia Naylor-Ojurongbe, who has been director of the Women's Center since July 1993, is leaving the position effective Monday, July 28. Naylor-Ojurongbe plans to relocate to Albuquerque, N.M., where she will complete work on her doctoral dissertation in history from Duke University, Durham, N.C. Naylor-Ojurongbe's husband, Wole "P.K." Ojurongbe, recently completed work on an M.B.A. from Iowa State.

The interim director of the Women's Center, located on ISU's central campus, provides advocacy, referral services and programming for the ISU community. The interim director also coordinates women's programs and celebrations; manages the center's central campus facility, budget, staff and students; and works with and reports jointly to the dean of students and the assistant provost for academic affairs.

The position requires a master's degree; an orientation to human services, education and/or administrative services; two years relevant employment or experience, with a focus on interaction with students and faculty and staff; supervision of staff, budget and services and program for students; and demonstrated knowledge of women's issues, the dynamics of oppression and social systems/social change literature and practices.

A search for a permanent director of the Women's Center will be announced at a later date.
