NATIVE IOWAN RETURNS TO STATE TO DISCUSS TECHNOLOGY DIFFUSION
AND THE ICN
Everett M. Rogers, author of a leading textbook on technology innovation, will be the keynote speaker at the Iowa Distance Learning Association's annual conference Feb. 27-28 at Iowa State University.
Rogers, a native of Carroll, is professor and chair of the department of communication and journalism at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque. He is the author of "Diffusion of Technology," a reference work examining technology innovations. Rogers will speak at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, in Benton Auditorium in the Scheman Building.
Rogers will talk about communication technology's impact on the diffusion of new innovations. He also will discuss distance education and the Iowa Communications Network.
Rogers began his research on the diffusion of technology innovations while a student at ISU, where he earned the B.S. in agriculture, and master's and Ph.D. degrees in sociology .
The Iowa Distance Learning Association promotes the development and application of distance learning to education and training. The conference will be in the Scheman Continuing Education Building. For registration information, contact Janet Gardner, continuing education, (515) 294-5366.
