NASA NUTRITIONIST WILL SPEAK AT IOWA STATE

AMES, Iowa -- Helen Lane, chief scientist for the Medical Sciences Division at NASA's Johnson Space Center, Houston, will speak at Iowa State University on Friday and Saturday, March 21 and 22.

Lane will speak during the 10th anniversary banquet of Iowa State's Program for Women in Science and Engineering (approximately 7:15 p.m.), Friday, at the Scheman Building. She also will address about 600 female sixth- through ninth- graders who will be participating in the Program for Women in Science and Engineering's career conference. That will take place at 11 a.m. at the Memorial Union Great Hall.

As chief nutritionist for NASA, Lane specializes in nutritional biochemistry especially as it pertains to the nutritional requirements for space flight.

Lane has been at NASA since 1989. She also is an adjunct professor at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston.
