SUMMER COMMENCEMENT IS AUG. 3 AT IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY

AMES, Iowa -- About 760 students will receive degrees at Iowa State University's summer commencement ceremony Saturday, Aug. 3. The ceremony begins at 9:30 a.m. in Hilton Coliseum. No tickets are required.

Due to its smaller numbers, summer commencement is the only graduation ceremony Iowa State holds at which all graduating students' names are read as they walk across the stage. An estimated 410 students will receive bachelor's degrees, 275 students will receive master's degrees, and 75 will receive doctoral degrees. Two specialist degrees will be awarded as well.

William "Bill" Woodman, professor of sociology, will give the commencement address, which he has titled "Job Survival 101." Woodman joined the Iowa State faculty in 1973. He has been a member of the Faculty Senate since 1991 and was elected president of the group for the 1996-97 academic year.
