ISU SITE FOR NATIONAL SATELLITE TELECONFERENCE ON

U.N. WOMEN'S CONFERENCE ANNIVERSARY

AMES, Iowa -- Iowa State University will be a site for "America's Commitment: The United Nations Women's Conference One Year Later" national satellite teleconference on Saturday, Sept. 28.

The teleconference, which will be accompanied by local programming, will be from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Gallery of the Memorial Union. The event is open to the public.

The teleconference will begin at 11:30 a.m. with local programming. Theresa McCormick, ISU professor of curriculum and instruction, and Bao Thao, Minority Student Affairs program assistant, will talk about their experiences at the Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing in 1995.

The satellite broadcast will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. First Lady Hillary Clinton and Secretary of Health and Human Services Donna Shalala are scheduled to participate in the satellite broadcast. A facilitated follow-up discussion will be at ISU from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Refreshments will be provided. Lunches will be available for purchase in the Memorial Union.
