ISU SIGNS AGREEMENT WITH PAKISTANI UNIVERSITY

AMES, Iowa -- Iowa State University and the National University of Science and Technology in Pakistan have agreed on a cooperative master of science program in aerospace engineering and engineering mechanics. Iowa State University Provost John Kozak will sign the agreement Wed., Aug. 14, during a luncheon ceremony with NUST president Syed Shujaat Hussain.

The five-year agreement will allow NUST to send up to three of its top students to Iowa State to complete a portion of their studies toward an MS degree in aerospace engineering or engineering mechanics. The students can take some of the course work and start their research projects while at NUST, which is located in Islamabad-Rawalpindi, then complete their work at Iowa State. Upon successful completion of the program, Iowa State will award the students a master of science degree.

"This is a great example of how we are extending the influence of the aerospace engineering and engineering mechanics department to different parts of the world," said aerospace engineering and engineering mechanics department chair Tom Rudolphi.

The National University of Science and Technology was created in 1993 and has a decentralized multi-site campus. Its College of Aerospace Engineering, which was formed with the assistance of the U.S. Air Force, is located in Risalpur, Pakistan.
