AFFIRMATIVE ACTION OFFICER FINALIST TO VISIT CAMPUS

AMES, Iowa--An additional candidate for the position of affirmative action officer will interview on campus in May. Five finalists visited campus earlier this year.

Deborah E. Love will be on campus May 6 and 7. An open forum during Love's visit will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, May 6, in the Memorial Union Gold Room.

Love has been director of equal opportunity and regulatory compliance for the University of Mississippi for almost two years. She also served as assistant to the dean at the University of Mississippi (1992-94); was a reference and research librarian at Mississippi College School of Law, Jackson (1991-1992); and a law clerk with Ellen Bonner, P.A. (1991) and the Public Service Intern Program, (1990), both in Gulfport, Miss.

Love received a B.S. in criminal justice (1981) from Jackson State University, Jackson, Miss; and a juris doctor (1991) from the University of Mississippi School of Law.

Iowa State's affirmative action officer develops and monitors equal employment opportunity and affirmative action policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state and Board of Regents mandates; advises the administration, faculty and staff; participates in training programs; investigates complaints of discrimination and acts as liaison with federal and state enforcement agencies on compliance reviews. Jeanne Johnson has served as interim director of the Affirmative Action Office since David Torres resigned last August.
