IOWA STATE TO HOST SCIENCE AND SOCIETY E-GOVERNMENT LECTURE
AMES, Iowa -- A nationally known researcher on government and the internet (E-Government) will give a presentation on "Science and Society: The Challenges of E-Government" at 2:15 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 3, in room 302, Catt Hall, on the campus of Iowa State University. The event is free and open to the public.
Patricia Fletcher, associate professor in policy sciences at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, teaches and researches government information policy and information system management.
E-Government allows departments and units to get timely and accurate information to the public. Typical uses of E-Government include budgets, zoning regulations, utility bill payments online or registering for classes online.
Since the mid-1980s, Fletcher has conducted national studies of information resources management in federal, state, county and city governments. Recent research funded by the National Science Foundation's digital government grant program had Fletcher working as part of an international team studying new models of electronic partnerships.
The lecture is sponsored by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the public administration program within the department of political science.
