IOWA AG SECRETARY PATTY JUDGE TO SPEAK AT ISU OCTOBER 21
AMES, Iowa -- Patty Judge, secretary of agriculture for the state of Iowa, will speak on "The Role of Horticulture in Iowa's Economy," at 4:10 p.m., Monday, Oct.21, in 118 Horticulture Hall, at Iowa State University. The talk is free and open to the public.
Judge was elected in 1998, the first woman to serve in the position. One of her priorities is adding value to agriculture to increase profit for Iowa farmers.
"Horticultural enterprise is a rapidly growing segment of agriculture. Iowa State has one of the largest horticultural educational programs in the United States, and horticulture represents an opportunity for diversifying Iowa's economy," said William Graves, a professor of horticulture at Iowa State. "Producers, researchers, ag economists and others interested in the future of horticulture in Iowa will find Secretary Judge's talk of interest."
The talk is presented by the Department of Horticulture.
