CATT CENTER SILENT AUCTION FEATURES POLITICAL, GIFT ITEMS

AMES, Iowa -- As part of its 10th anniversary fund raising efforts, the Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women and Politics at Iowa State University is offering more than 40 items in a silent auction. Bidding will end Nov. 15.

The items range from political memorabilia from state and national lawmakers to an item donated by Gloria Steinem. Auction items, guidelines and bidding information are on the Catt Center's Web site, www.iastate.edu/~cccatt/auction.html.

"Many of the silent auction items would make unique holiday gifts, and buying items will benefit the Catt Center in its efforts to encourage women's political education and participation" said Dianne Bystrom, center director.

Bidding forms may be downloaded from the Web or faxed to you by calling (515) 294-3181. Completed forms are to be faxed to (515) 294-3741.

Auction items include: An original pencil drawing, "Washington Spring," by U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein of California; a Republican elephant mug from the personal collection of Mary Louise Smith; numerous autographed books; a dinner for six prepared by Kathy Geoffroy and hosted by Iowa State President Gregory and Kathy Geoffroy at The Knoll; an Isabel Bloom garden angel sculpture; and an original oil painting of Catt Hall by Iowa artist Michael Stohlmeyer.
