LORENZEN NAMED DIRECTOR OF INDUSTRY RELATIONS
AMES, Iowa -- Lisa Lorenzen, Iowa State University's biotechnology industrial liaison, will expand her duties to serve as the university's director of industry relations.
The expanded position is in the Office of the Vice Provost for Research and Advanced Studies at Iowa State. Lorenzen will serve as a liaison between Iowa State's research and outreach activities, and industry in Iowa and beyond.
"I am looking forward to building more relations with industry," Lorenzen said. "We strive to serve as a resource for faculty dealing with industry and as a resource for industry dealing with ISU."
The Office of the Vice Provost for Research and Advanced Studies coordinates many industry related activities, assisted by the university-wide Coordinating Council on Technology Transfer.
"Industry relations are built through repeated interactions based on joint interests," said James Bloedel, vice provost for research, "Lisa's efforts in this area will build our visibility in the industrial sector and greatly enhance our capacity to maintain relationships with industry over the long term. This should improve our opportunities for technology transfer and for interfacing with the Iowa Department of Economic Development."
Lorenzen graduated from Iowa State with a B.S. degree in 1989 and Ph.D. in 1994, both in genetics. Prior to joining ISU, she worked for five years as a computational biologist in the bioinformatics group at Pioneer Hi-Bred International Inc.
