AMES, Iowa -- Comedian Lewis Black, a regular on Comedy Central, will bring his brand of caustic humor to Stephens Auditorium for a free performance at 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30.
Best known for his weekly spotlight, "Back in Black," on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show," Black has written more than 40 plays that have been produced around the world. One of his plays, "The Deal," was made into an independent film that appears occasionally on the Sundance Channel.
Black has been a guest star on several television series, including "Homicide," "Law and Order," "The Murphy Brown Show" and "Mad About You," and he had a recurring role in "The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd." He also appeared in the films "Hannah and Her Sisters," "Jacob's Ladder" and "The Night We Never Met."
A frequent guest on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien," Black is known for political and pop-culture humor. In 2001, he received the American Comedy Award for "Viewers' Choice Stand-up Comic."
His campus appearance kicks off the ISU Lectures Program season. For more information, contact the ISU Lectures Program, (515) 294-9935.
