IOWA HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TAKE ON CY-TECH CHALLENGE AT ISU

AMES, Iowa -- High school students from throughout Iowa will participate in Iowa State University's annual CyTech Challenge on Friday, April 19.

The students will work with university staff and business representatives on a variety of "real-world" technology-related projects. Projects this year include programming a Lego car and working with e-business applications. CyTech Challenge also introduces students to programs at Iowa State and careers in information technology.

Students and technology instructors from the following high schools will participate: Ames High School, Clarke Community High School, Eldora-New Providence High School, Glenwood High School, New Hampton High School, Oskaloosa Junior/Senior High School, PCM High School, Pomeroy Palmer Community School, Prairie Valley High School, Russell Community School, Sigourney Community School, South Hamilton Community School, Southern Cal High School, Wall Lake View Auburn High School, Wapsie Valley High School and West Bend Mallard High School.

The corporate representatives this year are from Aegon, Cerner Corporation, General Mills, Guidant, IBM, Kimberly-Clark, Maytag, Microsoft, Pella, Principal Financial Group and Procter and Gamble.

Established in 1998, the CyTech Challenge is a collaborative partnership between the colleges of Business, Engineering, and Liberal Arts and Sciences, and is coordinated by the MIS Club, the ComSci Club and the IEEE. More information is available at http://www.cytech.iastate.edu.
