Clifford and Monica Hinkhouse family of West Liberty are Iowa State University's 2001 Family of the Year. The Hinkhouses were honored during ISU's Family Weekend events, Sept. 28-30. The Hinkhouse's two children, Amy and Chris, are both Iowa State students. Amy is a graduate student majoring in educational leadership and policy studies. Chris is majoring in agriculture systems technology. The two will graduate in May 2002. Clifford Hinkhouse, who farms, earned his degree from Iowa State in 1970. Monica Hinkhouse is a media aide at West Branch Middle School. She earned a degree from Iowa State in 1971. The Hinkhouse family regularly attend Iowa State athletic events and other activities, including Veishea. The ISU Family of the Year is chosen through an application and interview process. A family must be nominated by a current student.
