IOWA STATE BUSINESS PROFESSOR EARNS FELLOWSHIP HONOR
AMES, Iowa -- Iowa State University's College of Business awarded Yoshinori Suzuki, assistant professor of transportation and logistics, the Robert and Jane Sturgeon Faculty Fellowship in Transportation and Logistics recently.
This is the first faculty fellowship for the transportation and logistics program. It was established with a gift from Robert and Jane Sturgeon, owners of Barr-Nunn Transportation, Inc., Granger, one of the 10 largest Iowa-based, nationwide motor carriers.
Suzuki's research focus is the mathematical modeling of logistics and transportation management problems and issues. He is also interested in translating his models into easily implemented spreadsheet programs. His teaching interests include transport economics, inventory management, network design and logistics customer service.
"Fellowships like the one the Sturgeons have established are critical to our ability to retain our top faculty," said Michael Crum, chair of the department of logistics, operations and management information systems. "It is also significant because it is evidence of the reputation and importance of our program to industry."
Suzuki received a Ph.D. in business logistics from Pennsylvania State University in 1998, a MBA in marketing with distinction from New York University in 1992, and a B.S. in business and economics from Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan, in 1987. Prior to coming to Iowa State University, Suzuki was involved in traffic and marketing management in Japan and Australia.
