SCULPTOR TO SPEAK ON 'PUBLIC ART IN AMERICA' AT ISU
AMES, Iowa — Internationally known sculptor Siah Armajani, whose art can be seen in Iowa, will speak about his work on Tuesday, March 27, at 7:30 p.m. in the Iowa State University College of Design's Kocimski Auditorium.
Armajani's talk, "Public Art in America," will address the issues of creating public sculpture for a specific community.
Armajani is best known for his bridge sculptures in Iowa City and Minneapolis, as well as Stuttgart, Germany, and Nice, France. He also designed the Olympic cauldron for the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. Armajani identifies himself as a "progressive populist" who uses his work to bridge the gap between artist and community.
For more information, contact Dennis Raverty, department of art and design, (515) 294-3237. The lecture is free and open to the public.
