KOPPENHAVER NAMED INTERIM ASSOCIATE BUSINESS DEAN AT ISU

AMES, Iowa -- Gary Koppenhaver, associate professor of finance at Iowa State University's College of Business, will serve as an interim associate dean for the 2001-2002 academic year. His responsibilities will include budget planning and management, supervision of computer labs and management of facilities.

His new appointment coincides with Labh Hira's appointment as interim dean. Koppenhaver will join Hira and James McElroy, also an interim associate dean, in the Dean's office.

These changes follow Dean Benjamin Allen's appointment as interim vice-president of external affairs. Allen replaces Murray Blackwelder, who has accepted a similar position at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana.

Koppenhaver also served as the associate dean for the College of Business from 1993 to1996 under Deans David Shrock and Allen. Before coming to Iowa State, Koppenhaver was a senior economist for the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and an economic consultant to the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. After receiving his bachelor's and Ph.D. degrees in economics from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, he was an assistant professor at Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas.
