KLIEMANN NAMED ASSOCIATE VICE PROVOST
AMES, Iowa -- Wolfgang Kliemann, associate dean for research in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, has been appointed associate vice provost for research at Iowa State University effective July 1. The appointment will continue through June 30, 2004.
Kliemann also is a professor of mathematics at Iowa State. He will manage the research portion of the vice provosts office, which includes the Office of Sponsored Programs, the Iowa Energy Center, the Office of Biotechnology, the Water Resources Research Institute, the Center for Transportation Research and Education, the Statistical Laboratory, Laboratory Animal Resources and the Molecular Biology Building.
"Our office is very fortunate to have attracted Dr. Kliemann. He is an outstanding academician with a great understanding of research and the needs of the research community at ISU, said James Bloedel, vice provost for research and advanced studies.
The associate vice provost post was held by Prem Paul, who will leave Iowa State on June 30 to become vice chancellor for research at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.
