ISU RANKED IN TOP 10 FOR NATIONAL MERIT, ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARS
AMES, Iowa Iowa State University ranks in the top 10 public
universities that enrolled National Merit Scholars and National Achievement
Scholars in 2000.
In 2000, Iowa State enrolled 113 National Merit Scholars, which ranks it 9th
in the nation among public universities. Last year, Iowa State enrolled 116
Merit Scholars and ranked 7th among publics.
Iowa State ranks 19th among all universities enrolling Merit Scholars in
2000.
In 2000, Iowa State enrolled 12 National Achievement Scholars. This places
Iowa State 7th among public universities enrolling new National Achievement
Scholars and 19th among all universities. Last year, Iowa State enrolled 9
Achievement Scholars, ranking it 10th among all publics.
The National Achievement Scholarship program recognizes outstanding academic
achievement among African American high school students.
There are currently 533 National Merit and National Achievement scholars
enrolled at Iowa State.
Iowa State is the only public university in Iowa that enrolled any new
National Achievement Scholars for 2000. Drake University enrolled one
Achievement Scholar. Iowa State enrolled more National Merit Scholars than
all of Iowa's other colleges and universities combined.
