MU RECREATION CENTER TO UNDERGO RENOVATION
AMES, Iowa -- The Iowa State Memorial Union Recreation Center will begin a major renovation of its bowling lanes starting Aug. 27. The project will take two to three weeks, but will not close the area entirely.
Patrons may still access the video arcade and billiards area. Bowling lanes may be temporarily unavailable during the renovation. Since the work will be done primarily in the afternoons, ISU bowling classes will be able to use the lanes in the mornings with minimal interruption.
The following improvements will be made:
New synthetic bowling lanes incorporating black light sensitive material
New computerized automatic scoring
New seating and consoles at the lanes
New floor coverings throughout the center, including black light-sensitive carpet
New decorative masking units over the pins
The renovation is being done with financial assistance provided by a special appropriation from the ISU Government of the Student Body.
A renovation celebration will be held on Sunday, Sept. 23, from 4:30 to 10 p.m.
Daily updates on the availability of the bowling lanes are available by calling (515) 294-1233.
