The visit is hosted by the College of Family and Consumer Sciences and is part of ISU’s yearlong "Strengthening families to become the best" celebration year. Sato, of Seattle, Wash., designed "One Now All" -- a two-story word wall in the lobby of the Palmer Building, as well as several art highlights embedded in the floor. A welcoming reception will be at 5 p.m. in the Palmer Building. She will hold a lecture at 7 p.m. in the Brunnier Art Museum, Scheman Building. Sato will discuss how her visual imagery relates to families and learning. Both events are free and open to the public. "One Now All" is a collection of words commonly used by young children. A waterfall flows over the artwork. The artwork reflects the Palmer Building as home to the Child Development Laboratory School. The building also houses the department of human development and family studies, the Marriage and Family Therapy Clinic and the Financial Counseling Clinic. The building is named for Iowa State alumni Barbara Raeder Palmer and James R. Palmer of State College, Penn., whose $1.1 million gift to Iowa State initiated the project. The $8.3 million, three-story building officially opened in March. A public dedication will be Oct. 7.
