Naomi Klein, author of "No Logo: Taking Aim at the Brand Bullies," and Simon Prestridge, labor practice manager for Nike, will speak on "Labor in Developing Countries and Multinational Corporations: What’s Fair?" at 8 p.m. in the Sun Room of the Memorial Union. Klein, a journalist, will discuss why some of the world’s most revered brand names – including Nike – are being questioned about fairness, labor issues and consumer choice. Prestridge will talk about Nike’s effort to address concerns about its international labor practices. He has defended the sporting goods corporation’s efforts to upgrade working conditions. The lecture is sponsored by the Murray Bacon Center for Business and Ethics, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Miller Lecture Fund, department of philosophy, College of Business and the Institute on World Affairs. -30- |
