Rollin Richmond, Provost, (515) 294-9591 ROSS TO SERVE AS AGRICULTURE DEAN AT ISU AMES, Iowa -- Richard Ross will serve as dean of the Iowa State University College of Agriculture for a two-year period, which began July 1. The appointment is subject to review by the Board of Regents, State of Iowa. Ross was appointed interim dean of the College of Agriculture in February. Since then, Ross has been dividing his time between his regular responsibilities as dean of the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine and dean of the College of Agriculture. Ross will serve as dean of agriculture until a permanent dean is hired to replace David Topel, who resigned from the position earlier this year. An interim dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine will be announced soon. "Richard Ross is providing strong and effective leadership for the College of Agriculture, and we appreciate his willingness to dedicate his full energies to this position," said Provost Rollin Richmond. "He knows the state of Iowa and its agriculture well and is attuned to the changes that Iowa State needs to make to serve the needs of Iowa farmers." Richmond said candidates for the dean of agriculture who have visited the campus have solid credentials, but none has received the kind of broad support needed to oversee the extensive agriculture programs at Iowa State. -30- |
