Ames, IA --- Julie Nuter, Iowa State's vice president for University Human Resources, is resigning to accept a position with Argonne National Laboratory near Chicago.
Nuter joined Iowa State in December 2013 as associate vice president, and was promoted to vice president in 2015. She will become chief human resource officer for Argonne, a United States Department of Energy laboratory operated by the University of Chicago. She will conclude her work at Iowa State July 29.
“It has been a privilege and honor to serve as vice president for University Human Resources. It has been a tremendous opportunity to further the university’s mission and purpose through programs and policies that support our talented employees,” Nuter said.
Iowa State University President Steven Leath applauded Nuter for her leadership and innovative approach in human resources. "Julie led an overhaul of the university's hiring system, creating a more efficient and user-friendly process," Leath said.
He said plans will be developed for an interim appointment and a permanent successor to Nuter.
Nuter came to Iowa State from DePaul University in Chicago.
