Ames police, fire respond to chemical incident
At approximately 11:35 a.m. today (Jan. 3), Ames Fire and Police Departments responded to the report of a chemical incident at Biova, 2325 North Loop Drive, at the ISU Research Park. Crews noted a gas plume originating from an above-ground storage container. The fire department misted the plume with water droplets to diminish its size and by 12:47 p.m., it had dissipated. Crews remain at work on the scene.

Chemical incident in ISU Research Park. Roads reopened
Roads that were closed in response to a chemical-related incident in the ISU Research Park have been reopened. The incident occurred in Building 6, one of the tenant buildings at the park.

Chemical incident in ISU Research Park. U.S. 30 closed; avoid the area
A chemical-related incident has occurred in Building 6, one of the tenant buildings at the ISU Research Park. City of Ames officials have closed U.S. Highway 30 from Duff to South Dakota avenues. A short stretch of University Boulevard, from Mortensen to Airport roads, also is closed. No evacuations of facilities or neighborhoods are occurring north of U.S. 30. City officials request that people stay away from the area.
