AMES, Iowa -- The body of an Iowa State University student was found on campus July 19.
At 8:47 a.m., Ames Police received a 911 call from a person who reported finding the body of a white male in a creek just off Hayward Avenue.
Upon arrival, Ames police officers verified the presence of a body in College Creek, near the 100 block of Hayward Avenue. The location where the body was found was determined to be on Iowa State University property and ISU Police were notified. The investigation is being conducted jointly by ISU Police, Ames Police and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
In addition to these law enforcement agencies, staff from the Ames Fire Department, Mary Greeley Medical Center, Story County Medical Examiner's office, and the Office of the State Medical Examiner assisted in the investigation.
No obvious signs of foul play were noted; however, the cause of death has not yet been determined. The case remains under investigation.
An autopsy will be conducted by Dr. Dennis Klein, assistant state medical examiner, at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, July 20.
The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of the family.
