AMES, Iowa -- Diane Rover, professor of electrical and computer engineering at Iowa State University, has been named interim associate dean for academic programs and budget in the College of Engineering. She replaces David Holger, who in June was appointed associate provost for academic programs and dean of the Graduate College. Rover's appointment extends through June 2005, when incoming dean Mark Kushner will appoint a permanent associate dean.
Rover joined the ISU faculty in 2001, following 10 years at Michigan State University. From 1989-91, she worked at the Ames Laboratory on the Iowa State campus under a Department of Energy postdoctoral fellowship with the Scalable Computing Laboratory.
Rover's research involves the development of new software systems for performance visualization and new models for interdisciplinary teaching and learning. In 2003, she was named associate chair for undergraduate education for electrical and computer engineering.
Rover received three degrees from Iowa State: a bachelor's degree in computer science in 1984 and master's and doctoral degrees in computer engineering in 1986 and 1989, respectively.
