AMES, Iowa -- Brian Wansink, author and food psychology researcher, will speak at Iowa State University on Thursday, April 5. His talk, "Beating Mindless Eating," will be at 8 p.m. in the Memorial Union South Ballroom. It is free and open to the public.
The author of "Mindless Eating: Why We Eat More Than We Think," Wansink is internationally recognized for his research on food psychology and its implications for consumer marketing, medicine and human nutrition. His work contributed to the introduction of 100-calorie food packages to prevent overeating.
Wansink is the John Dyson Professor of Consumer Behavior at Cornell University, where he directs the Cornell Food and Brand Lab. From 2007 to 2009, he served as executive director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion, the federal agency responsible for developing 2010 dietary guidelines and promoting the Food Guide Pyramid.
